Tab switching
Tab switching is a means of dynamically adjusting which tabs are available in a module as users make choices, typically by entering a value in a field.
A good example of a field that triggers Tab switching is the Party Type field in the Parties module. When creating a new record in the Parties module, if Person is selected in the Party Type drop list, the following tabs are available:
If Organization is selected however, a slightly different set of tabs display:
Tab switching can be applied in all Screen modes. It is possible for an Administrator to configure a module to display different tabs for different groups of users in each mode. For example, a user may be set up to view only a couple of tabs when in Search mode but to view all tabs when in Display or New mode.
Note: Each institution can specify Tab switching fields and the values that will determine the tabs and fields that display.
